Brand Strategy. Decide where you win.
Before anything is designed, we work out what you stand for, who you’re for and why a careful buyer should choose you. Then we write it down so the whole business can use it.
Closes the Recognition and Voice gaps.
The problem
Most brands were never planned. They were assembled: a logo from the early days, a website from another agency, a deck built the night before a tender. Together they say nothing in particular.
Strategy fixes the source. It turns “we do quality work” into a position a buyer can repeat to their boss.
What’s in the work
Positioning
Where you compete, how you are different and why it matters to the buyer. Tested against real sales situations.
Buyer and decision-group map
B2B decisions are made by groups: the user, the engineer, procurement, finance, the approver. We map what each one worries about and needs to hear.
Brand architecture
How the group, divisions, products and represented brands relate. One master brand, endorsed brands or separate names, decided on commercial logic.
Naming
Names for companies, products and services. Distinctive, easy to say in your markets, and screened for obvious conflicts before you commit.
Message pillars and proof
The three or four things you want to be known for, each backed by evidence a sceptical buyer will accept.
Signs it’s time
- Strong work isn’t turning into enquiries, and nobody can say why.
- Prospects confuse you with a competitor.
- Divisions or products have grown up with unrelated names.
- You are entering a new market or sector.
- A merger or new ownership has changed what the business is.
How it runs
Analyse
We read everything you publish, talk to the people who buy from you and map how competitors present the same offer.
Rebuild
We write the position, map the buyers and their worries, set the brand architecture and, if the name no longer fits, test new ones.
Showcase
You get a strategy your sales team can use on Monday and a brief every designer and writer can follow.
Questions
What is the difference between positioning and brand strategy?
Positioning is the choice of where you compete and how you are different. Brand strategy is the fuller foundation built on that choice: audiences, promise, personality, messages and proof.
What is brand architecture?
The structure that decides how a company’s brands, sub-brands and products relate. For example, one master brand for everything, or separate brands endorsed by the parent.
Do we need a strategy if we only want a new logo?
Usually, yes, even a short one. A logo without a position is a guess. For small refreshes we run a compressed version.
Not sure this is
the right starting point?
Thirty minutes, no cost. We’ll tell you where the gap is and where to start, even if it isn’t here.
